Character Intensive: for humans!

Join Batrabbit Collective, the creators of Rat Academy and Rat Academy 2: Gnaw and Order, for a three-hour intensive in creating, improvising, and performing unique characters. The course will be taught by Joseph McManus (they/he), Katie Yoner (she/her) and Dayna Lea Hoffmann (she/her), who have developed their own method of performance creation rooted elements of Pochinko clown, devised physical theatre, and improv fundamentals. Course instruction will include:

vocal, physical, and perspective methods for character development

Practical exercises used in rehearsals to expand on a character

Improvisational exercises

Character exploration through elements of clown

How to find connection with an audience

The tenets of improv, and using them to explore character

Expanding movement vocabulary through physical theatre exercises

Sections of the course will be curated for areas of interest expressed by participants.
This course is intended for performers, comedians, improvisers, clowns, and physical theatre artists, both starting out and professional. Participants need not prepare anything, but should come ready to move, be weird, and have fun!
