Maybe you're an artist who's never quite fit the mold of auditioning actor, or a stand-up comedian wanting a little more than increasing your Laughs Per Minute? Or maybe you are just bursting with a story and have no idea where to start. In any case, you belong here.
Solo shows are a growing form, for good reason. In a show completely written by you, you can be yourself, you can be any number of characters... the only limit is your creativity. Well, and your word count.
This course covers the basics: how to figure out what your show’s about, which techniques to use, what structure to give it, and what your working process will be. There’ll be a mix of presentation, discussion, partnered and group exercises, and one-on-one coaching.
You can come with a fully formed idea, or no idea whatsoever. All levels of experience are welcome! And you don't need to bring anything except curiosity, openness and a desire to communicate something on stage. And cue cards. You’ll need to buy some of those small index cards. And a pen. Ok you need to bring 2 things.
The theatre world is back and better than ever after years of stewing in emotions and stories. Creative work is one of the best ways to process what’s on your mind, in your heart, and moving through your body. Your story needs to be heard. It's time.
